The Clinic and Coronavirus

The coronavirus pandemic has been a worrying and challenging time for many. In the height of the first wave as the clinic was closed I offered my services to the NHS however we were lucky enough that was not neccesary in this area. Gradually as we understood what we were up against and emerged back into the world I started to plan the reopening of services. I have now been delivering appointments face to face again since July 2020.

I can reassure you that as the only person responsible for operation of the clinic I am taking as many precautions as possible to minimise any risk.

The clinic has a robust risk assessment in place that details every aspect of ensuring the clinical environment is maintained in accordance with the latest government and Public Health England guidelines. The clinic is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between patients and systems in place ensure excellent infection control practices are followed. I wear full PHE advised PPE for every appointment and request patients wear a face covering too. Surgical masks are available for patients to use should they prefer to, all I request is a small donation to the charity of the month.

All patients undergo covid-risk screening prior to any face to face appointment to assist the individual risk assessment process. This is primarily an online form followed by a telephone conversation to discuss your needs. We will discuss things that may influence your appointment such as your household, medical history, coronavirus history and occupation.  The appointment spacing and diary management measures ensure most patients with a clinical need can be accommodated unless the patient is  self-isolating for any reason.

Video consultations have also proved very popular with patients for obvious reasons. Throughout lockdown I have worked with patients across the UK and in fact the world delivering providing everything from back/hip/knee and shoulder injury assessment and advice/rehabilitation, post fracture rehabilitation, consultations for pregnancy related problems, ergonomic vehicle assessments - its been a really interesting time!
